OH! This Makes Me Blush

April 22, 2014 | 0 Comments

Two "do-it-yourself"s in a row, I know, but here is one that I think you'll really love.  As you know, if you read my blog, I'm not a foundation/base girl.  I also don't use blush on my cheeks and I'm sure there are times I could use some.  This little DIY will give you the perfect amount of color and it's all natural.  You know how your cheeks look right after you leave the gym or go for a run?  That's how this looks, but it lasts for way more than just a few minutes!

In addition to being the perfect gel tint for cheeks, it's a great lip stain too.  Unfortunately, as we age, our lips do begin to shrink and fade.  Studies have shown that a clearly defined lip gives us a more youthful appearance.  But stop.  Before you get drastic and start tattooing them (yes, people actually tattoo their lips,) try this instead.  You'll be looking more youthful without all the hassle and cost.

Here's what you'll need:

  • 1-2 Beets
  • Glycerine (make sure it is vegetable-derived)
  • 1 teaspoon Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Oil (for hydration, healing and a shot of antioxidants)
  • A jar to hold the tint
Peel and chop the beets. Put the beets and about two tablespoons (or extra if you like) of glycerine into a double boiler, add the D.E. Virgin Marula Oil and heat the water beneath to a gentle boil. Leave the mixture on the heat for around 15 minutes, watching to be sure the water doesn't get too low. Place the mixture into a strainer and collect the liquid with your jar or container.   Allow to cool before using.  The stain should keep for about six months.

That's it!  Dab on your lips and cheeks for a totally non-toxic, all natural gorgeous pink flush.
