The story behind the Drunk Elephant Logo...

August 12, 2013 | 1 Comment

Many people have asked about our elephant logo.  I really wanted something that was more serious to balance out the playful name I had chosen.  I had been asking others to help me design a logo, but it just sort of never happened.  So, one day I asked my daughter to get me a stack of paper and a sharpie.  We sat down at the breakfast table and I said, "I'm just going to sit here and draw elephants until I come up with one that speaks to that will be my logo....and I don't care if I have to sit here all day."  She looked at me like I was crazy, which I have to admit is nothing unusual.  First drawing out of the chute and there she was, my Drunk Elephant. It took me all of thirty seconds.  I knew it right when I saw it, kind of like the first time you see your husband, or your wedding dress.  It was that simple.  But here is the thing...I can't draw.  To save my life.  Truly.  I am the WORST artist ever.  If you gave me a million dollars, I couldn't recreate that drawing, I know because I've tried.  But that's what I have found to be the most curious thing about this entire process.  Everything with Drunk's been easy and organic and has always felt very "meant to be."  From the people I've had the opportunity to work with, to the occasional stranger I was lucky enough to meet who gave me invaluable, sound advice, to the way things just come to me in the night or pop in my head on a walk, that turn out to be the answers to questions I've been searching for.  So, that's the story behind the Drunk Elephant logo...a very unanticipated and pleasant surprise.

It’s what I’ve often referred to as the ‘idiot-savant’ nature of manifesting your desires. Letting go of ‘how’ has become my favorite exercise as I work out the belief muscles in my head and heart. It sounds like you can move mountains with your beliefs. Keep it at and leave traces for us to follow. All the best, pg
