In order to apply and not experience whitening or pilling, shake bottle first and warm in hands. Apply a pea-sized amount to face and neck. If product balls up, pills or turns skin white, you are using too much. This is 20% zinc oxide and a little goes a long way. Also make sure you are applying to a dry face. Product will turn sheer within minutes of application.

Alternatively, your local Sephora store (We're on the skincare Favorites Wall in every store and have our own endcap in select stores) will dispense small amounts of any available products upon request; and Sephora will soon offer a more extensive DE sampling program through their Beauty Insider Program.
The new formulation is exactly like the old formulation, but we added a thickener to improve the consumer experience. We also updated the packaging to further protect the high level of antioxidants in the serum.

No, we do not test our products on animals, including elephants... although we think they could use the help!

Drunk Elephant’s Virgin Marula™ Oil is wild-harvested and then cold-pressed using a unique, patented process of unheated water extraction, in order to keep the oil more nutrient-dense, with higher levels of omega fatty acids and antioxidants. The process also keeps the oil from going rancid for a much longer period of time, so that it has a longer shelf-life while remaining in its purest form. We don't cut, bleach or deodorize, nor do we add any fragrance or essential oils, which act as irritants and disrupt the pure oil’s many benefits. Additionally, our Marula oil is packaged in a bottle that protects the antioxidants from light, and that is outfitted with dropper technology that catches every last drop of this precious oil.
Yes, our sunblock is broad-spectrum and protects against aging UVA rays and burning UVB rays.
Yes, most definitely. When it comes to using a new product or ingredient (especially those that are acidic like L-Ascorbic and glycolic acid), start slowly and let your skin adjust. We use high concentrations in our products to ensure effectiveness, so a little tingling is not a bad thing!
It's best to place them in a cool, dry place after each use. We recommend that you keep them in a soap dish with a drain so that they dry out quickly and last longer.
Over time, we have found that a small number of low-hazard synthetic ingredients are essential to maintain the performance, color, and stability of a high-end line. We strive to be as clean and safe as possible while providing the most efficacious skin care available.
Some of our products might fit the profile of being vegan and/or gluten-free, but not all of them do. If you have a gluten allergy or intolerance, please consult the ingredient decks and your doctor before using any Drunk Elephant products. If you are vegan, please consult the ingredient decks for animal-derived ingredients.
No. We do not use parabens, synthetic or natural fragrances, phthalates, dyes or sulfates in any of our products. Please visit our Blacklisted page for more information.
20% Zinc Oxide.
Marula Oil has a two year shelf life. We recommend using the product within 6 months after opening, as it is 100% pure, unrefined oil and the natural aroma can become stronger over time.
If you are sensitive to nut oils, you may want to test out a small patch on your skin to see if you have any irritation. Apply a small drop and rub it onto the back of your hand, keep it on your hand for a few hours and see if you have any side effects. If you have zero irritation, you most likely won't have an allergy to Marula Oil. Please always use caution and make sure to test it out before applying a full application. If you have a severe nut allergy, you should consult your doctor before using this product.
