I Just Finished A 10 Day Cleanse...And I'm Loving The Results

It's called the "10 Day Green Smoothie Cleanse" and it was designed by JJ Smith. It wasn't easy to do, but now I don't want to stop. When you see that "detoxing" from sugar, gluten, dairy and alcohol can have such a drastic effect on the way you feel, it really makes you want to take a closer look at why. One of the most interesting things to me was that I actually ended up gaining weight. Probably because I needed to, but still. The diet is mostly comprised of 2-3 green smoothies per day plus unlimited chicken and vegetables. The smoothies, made with kale, spinach, banana, berries, peaches, mangoes, flax seed, raw plant protein powder, taste great. Before I knew it, I was craving them. To make sure I was getting enough calories and fat, I added avocado and coconut oil. I also used decaffeinated green tea in place of water. There is a 3-4 day period in the beginning that you can have headaches and pains, but it's normal and the fourth day is better. I had the toughest time giving up the caffeine, so I have taken it back up, but I just don't have it with cream and sugar anymore. After having nothing for over a week, almond milk and raw stevia tastes surprisingly great.

I originally decided to do the detox because I had editor meetings in New York and wanted to feel great and look my best. The detox gave me more energy, noticeably brighter skin, whiter eyes and I felt so much more hydrated. I also found that I slept so much better and could wake up much easier, and I'm not really a morning person. I would for sure recommend that you buy the book and try this.  It's completely safe, not at all like the severe cleanses you occasionally read about.

You don't have to go full-bore and give up everything like I did, but you should at least make one green drink a part of your day.  When you are finished, it's easy to keep eating clean. Gwyneth Paltrow's book "It's All Good" is loaded with recipes that fit right in...and there are plenty that kids will like too, so that helps. Like Drunk Elephant is a "detox" for your skin, this cleanse is a detox for your body.  It's a sustainable routine...I hope you'll give it a try.
