I started taking vitamins and supplements several years ago after I had my fourth baby. It's really hard to know which ones to take, but after reading up on it, it becomes clear that we just can't get the nutrients we need by eating a regular diet, even a really healthy one. Going on and off of my supplements through the years, I can say for sure that I feel and look healthier when I am taking them daily. After a lot of research, here is a list of the ones I feel cover all the bases.
Here's what you'll need:
1/2 cup Extra Virgin Coconut Oil: Provides deep and real moisture. It helps strengthen underlying tissues and helps remove excessive dead cell on the skin's surface that makes your skin rough and flaky in texture.
1 teaspoon D.E. Virgin Marula Oil: Hydrating oil that protects, heals and rejuvenates the skin. High in Antioxidants and Omegas 6 & 9.
The term "all-natural" is all over the place these days. I questioned what it really meant when I figured out that the "all-natural" products I was using were making my skin blotchy and oily, my rosacea flare up and my pores more visible. It wasn't just the "all-natural" products that were doing this to my skin, but the expensive clinical products, too. Since my teen years, it feels like I’ve tried every product out there, and most have left me irritated and broken out – even the ones I purchased from a dermatologist.
Happy almost 2014! I've been messing around in the kitchen again and wanted to share a wonderful, quick facial that you can whip up before your next party. I'm personally not big on professional facials. They are expensive and they cause me to break out every single time. I don't love that a bunch of irritating ingredients are being used either. I know the whole point of a facial is to feel pampered and relaxed, so automatically you know that essential oils and perfumes are playing a big role in that experience. So, I do it myself in the comfort of my own home. I think you'll agree it's a convenient way to give yourself a boost and a great glow. Here you go:
This could be my favorite child. I don't know, maybe because it's the "baby", the last to be formulated, the last piece of the puzzle. Whatever it is, it came out exactly as I had hoped.
Many people have asked about our elephant logo. I really wanted something that was more serious to balance out the playful name I had chosen. I had been asking others to help me design a logo, but it just sort of never happened. So, one day I asked my daughter to get me a stack of paper and a sharpie. We sat down at the breakfast table and I said,
Marula oil got the ball rolling for me. You can find it in every product and it's the inspiration behind the name "Drunk Elephant". I didn't choose it for trendy reasons, I chose it because I think it's the best oil that I've ever used on my skin and I've used them all. We use unrefined Marula Oil, which doesn't go through the same bleaching processes that most other oils on the market do. Ours has a faint, nutty smell and is devoid of any essential oils, which we believe are a primary cause of
